QuickTime VR

360 Panoramic Movies

QuickTime VR movies can be made from photographs, video stills, or computer renderings. Most movies are made from photographs as they provide the most realistic images. A movie that has hot spots to other movies or pages is referred to as a scene.

Advancements in digital camera technology have made it possible for us to shoot and create the QuickTime VR movies on location.

To photograph a QuickTime VR scene, we use a digital camera with a 20mm lens on a tripod and shoot a series of pictures with the help of a special VR head, turning the camera after each exposure. Then we transfer the images to our laptop to stitch them together on the spot!

Back at our studio the photos are retouched and color corrected, stitched together into a final panorama, and made into the VR movie. When you open a VR movie on your computer you can move your cursor to view the entire 360 degree panorama from a single window.

You will find Quicktime VR produced by Under Watercolours on the following websites:

Object Movies

Coming from the outside in, we can also create QuickTime VR movies of objects. These objects are placed on a rotating plate that is moved in incremented steps after every shot. Once stitched together, the viewer can see the object from every angle. There are many ways to display the object VR on your web site. Here are a few examples:
