The Mexican island of Cozumel lies 12 miles off the Yucatan Peninsula, separated by a 1,500 ft. deep ocean. The island was a sanctuary of the Mayan Goddess of Fertility "X'chel", and was a major destination for religious pilgrimages. Followers of X'chel came to pray and offer food and flower sacrifices to the Goddess of the Moon.
Cozumel diving offers spectacular visibility, incredible walls, pinnacles, and interconnecting caves and tunnels. All of the dives are drift dives, meaning the boat drops you off on one end of the reef, follows your bubbles, and picks you up at the end of the dive. Drift diving is easy if you let the current do the work. Cozumel's natural beauty, clean and peaceful beaches, clear water, multicolored reefs, exotic flora and fauna as well as numerous archeological vestiges welcome people from every corner in the planet.
Cozumel is rich with tradition combining Prehispanic rituals and culture with the participation of visitors and locals alike. We celebrate "Carnival" in February, the religious rights of Easter and Christmas, the Festivals of Santa Cruz in May, San Pedro and San Pablo in June, San Miguel in September. All of these events are popular with local residents as well as visiting guests.
